The Village President is a part-time elected voting member of the Executive Board.

Key Duties: 

  • Elected Executive Board Member: Serves a two-year term following election at the regular spring election in odd-numbered years. 
  • Board Leadership & Voting Rights: By virtue of the office, the President serves as a trustee and presides at all meetings of the Village Board, retaining a vote as a trustee .
  • Document Signing & Authorization: The President executes all ordinances, rules, bylaws, regulations, and commissions approved or authorized by the board, and signs treasury orders (unless otherwise governed by s. 66.042 Wis. Stats.).
  • Order & Ordinance Enforcement: The President is tasked with maintaining peace and good order within the village and ensuring that all village ordinances are faithfully obeyed .
  • Appointments: Subject to confirmation by a majority vote of the Board, the President appoints designated village officers—including the Village Attorney, Building Inspector, Electrical Inspector, Plumbing Inspector, Emergency Government Coordinator, and Assessor . The President also appoints citizen members to the Planning Commission .
  • Planning Commission Leadership: The President serves as the presiding officer of the Village Planning Commission 
  • Board of Review: Serves automatically on the Board of Review. 
  • Statutory Powers: In all other respects, the President holds all powers conferred upon a village president by the Wisconsin Statutes .
