Automated collection on Mondays (generally delayed one day if Monday falls on a holiday). Trash and recycling must be contained entirely in the automated cart. Anything that does not fit inside the automated cart is considered bulk. See "Bulk Collection" for additional information. 

  • Trash- Weekly: One automated trash cart is provided by Johns Disposal. Trash carts are owned by the Village and remain with the house. To rent additional trash carts, or to swap the size, please contact Johns Disposal directly.
  • Recycle - Bi-Weekly: Refer to Johns Disposal collection schedule. Recyclable materials include newspapers, cardboard, cans, glass, cartons and plastics are collected in the automated recycling carts provided by Johns Disposal. Recycle carts are owned by the Village and remain with the house. To rent additional recycling carts, or to swap the size, please contact Johns Disposal directly.
  • Chatham Street Collection Site: Place carts, yard waste, and bulk on the collection platform on North Street. 

Premium small truck weekly collection on Mondays (generally delayed one day if Monday falls on a holiday).

  • Trash - Weekly: Residents are responsible to buy their own trash carts. Cart size is limited to 32 gallons and weigh no more than 50 pounds when full, up the three carts per household. Trash that exceeds 3 carts is considered bulk. See "Bulk Collection" for additional information.
  • Recycling - Weekly: One 32 gallon recycling can is provided by Johns Disposal. Cans are owned by the Village and remain with the house. To rent additional recycling bins, please contact Johns Disposal directly. 

Residents must call in advance to schedule bulky item collections on one pre-determined date per month, for a total of 12 collections per year. The collection schedule appears on the Village Calendar and is also published on the Johns Disposal North Bay page. 

  • Any items that do not fit in your garbage or recycling cart, including Christmas trees with all decorations and lights removed, must be called into our office at 262-473-4700; or emailed to office@johnsdisposal.com.
  • Johns Disposal office hours are Monday – Friday from 8am-4:30pm and Saturday from 8am-noon.

Yard waste is collected twice a month on predetermined dates from mid-April through mid to late November. The collection schedule appears on the Village Calendar and is also published on the Johns Disposal North Bay page. 

Yard Waste Collection Guidelines:

  • Place all yard waste to the collection site by 7 AM. 
  • Yard waste collection sites:
    • Public roads: Place at the curb; please allow a 6 foot clearance from automated carts.
    • Chatham Street: Please yard waste on the gravel platform on North Street; please allow 6 foot clearance from automated carts.
    • Private Drives except Shore Acres Drive: Place at the end of your driveway.
    • Shore Acres Drive: Place yard waste on North Bay Drive, please allow a 6 foot clearance from automated carts.
  • Yard waste collection is strictly for normal, residential yard waste only.
  • Bagged Yard Waste: Place yard waste in compostable 30-gallon paper bags. Bags are available for purchase at local hardware stores. The weight limit is 50 pounds per bag.
  • Bins clearly marked Yard Waste: 32 gallons or smaller, 60 pound maximum weight limit when full.
  • Small Branches: Bundle small branches using twine. Branches must be smaller than 6 inches in diameter and no longer than 4 feet. The maximum size for a bundle is either 60 pounds or 1 foot in diameter.
  • The following materials are NOT included and will NOT be collected:
    • Material resulting from large storm events
    • Dirt, sod, rocks, or concrete
    • Tree stumps or brush
    • Landscape timbers or construction lumber
    • General garbage
    • Additionally, we will not collect yard waste generated by extensive landscaping projects performed by outside contractors.

  • Private drives: Bag leaves and place with other yard waste for collection by Johns Disposal. Refer to Johns Disposal yard waste collection schedule. 
  • Public Roads: 
    • Chatham St: Bag leaves and place with other yard waste for collection by Johns Disposal. Refer to Johns Disposal yard waste collection schedule.
    • All public roads except Chatham St. Curbside leaf collection on public roads is handled by the snow removal contractor and occurs on Mondays from mid-October until the first measurable snowfall.
      IMPORTANT: Leaf piles that contain lawn clippings or other yard waste will not be collected because the area's only certified organic collection site rejects co-mingled materials. Property owners are responsible for disposing of any co-mingled piles. Failure to dispose of these piles promptly may result in a fine to the property owner.

  • Snow Plowing: Public Village streets are plowed when there are 2-3 inches of snow or at the discretion of the Public Works Trustee.
  • Streets: It is unlawful to throw, blow, or shovel snow and slush into the street. You or someone hired by you cannot push, blow, or drag the snow out into the street and “loose it along the street” or push it across the street to the other side.
  • Garbage & Recycling Carts: If a snow event falls on the same day as a garbage pick up, please keep the carts in your driveway approach off the street so the plows may clear the entire street and not risk hitting them with the weight of the snow discharge from the plow.
  • Plowing & Ice Control : Attention is given first to high-volume traffic roadways, as they present significantly more safety risks. In North Bay, the public streets on, or connecting with Vincennes Circle east of North Main Street have the highest traffic-volume and are plowed first. Once the arterial roadways are cleared, the contractor addresses low-volume residential streets, which includes North Street and Chatham Street.
